What is mouse polling rate?
Polling rate is how often (in Hz) your mouse tells the computer where it is. 1000 Hz = 1000 updates per second = a new position report every 1 ms. Higher polling means lower latency between physical mouse movement and the cursor / aim on screen.
Does higher polling rate improve aim?
In theory, yes — less latency, smoother tracking. In practice, the gains from 1000 Hz to 4000 Hz are sub-perceptual for most players. Pros adopt high-Hz mostly because newer flagship mice support it natively, not because they can feel the difference on stream.
What's not a good reason to switch: input lag concerns. If your aim feels laggy on 1000 Hz, the bottleneck is almost certainly your monitor refresh rate or PC frame rate, not polling.
Should I run 4000 or 8000 Hz?
